Welcome to Mareels Howarth

There is an insatiable demand for students that have tertiary qualifications in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). However, STEM subjects are considered to be amongst the most challenging and as a result too many students prematurely opt out of the STEM pathway.

Students who obtain STEM qualifications will be in strong demand upon graduating and will have a wide range of available career choices. Additionally, in the present technological economy, STEM qualified jobs present higher earning potential than many non STEM counterparts.

At Mareels Howarth we specialise in teaching STEM. We have years of experience in unlocking our students’ potential and instilling enjoyment in learning. At Mareels Howarth we aim to dismantle the stigma of "STEM is too difficult, too dull and too abstract". We contextualise STEM and prove that when taught well and with passion, everyone can attain a significant STEM level and thoroughly enjoy doing so at the same time.

What our clients and students are saying

Maths was my weakest subject and one which I really didn't enjoy studying, yet my tutor's enthusiasm was infectious. He helped me manage to wrangle a 7 in IB mathematics (top grade) & is currently helping me with some tough statistics modules at university as well. It is safe to say that I would most certainly recommend them to anyone.

Making Maths logical and not scary, enabled our son to get 100% on his retake test!

Engaging enthusiasm has now resulted in our son actually looking forward to his maths tutorials!!

Our children could not have had (and continuing to have) the outstanding academic results at their schools without the help and tuition of Mareels Howarth. Brilliant tutors with deep knowledge of mathematics and physics. We are delighted with the splendid results that they have achieved.

The online lessons helped me a huge amount. I did not know much of the material and my tutor and I managed to cover almost all of GCSE maths in a short amount of time. The lessons were very effective and I was able to go from a predicted C to an A. The lessons were very enthusiastic and motivated me to work on my weak points in maths.

Ryan Lacked confidence and was struggling with grasping some mathematical concepts and was averaging grades of 55-60%. By the end of the year Ryan's grades had improved to an average of 80%. Ryan finds the lessons very friendly and approachable and the method of teaching easy to understand. The lessons provide Ryan with enthusiasm and confidence. Ryan looks forward to the tutoring sessions and does not find it a chore.

Skype tutoring with Mareels Howarth was extremely beneficial in aiding me to achieve my academic goals and excel within my studies. The tutoring sessions via Skype were easy to understand and covered difficult content in a comprehensive and detailed manner. Without the help of Mareels Howarth, I would not be where I am today and would recommend the Skype tutoring sessions to anyone without hesitation.

A personal approach to tutoring. Having a deep level of understanding of the subject and the ability to convey it in a simplified manner is what helped me pass engineering mechanics with honours.

My tutor was the most knowledgeable teacher I've ever had. He explained the theory behind each topic and helped me appreciate what I was learning, as well as guiding me through practice papers with unique tips and tricks.

Our Values & Goals

Having experienced the privilege of being students ourselves, we understand that it takes a combination of deep theoretical knowledge, teamwork and perseverance in order to achieve academic excellence.

At Mareels Howarth we support and encourage all students to strive for their best. In addition to clearly communicating technical understanding, our tuition aims to instil philosophies of integrity, positivity and hard work. We firmly believe these values are essential in order to succeed in life, both inside and outside of the classroom. Our private tutors may only play a brief role in a student’s journey of learning and development, but we leave behind helpful habits that last a lifetime.

At Mareels Howarth we are passionate about education. We believe education is something that should never be taken for granted. Learning is an investment in our future. We would like to see this privileged opportunity extended to less fortunate people and communities. In order to realise this aim, we proudly support a number of educational based charities around the globe. Learn more about our selected charities under our "Educational Charities" section.

Message from the founders

David and Cameron

Obtaining top grades in subjects which are full of abstract concepts, complex theorems and complicated formulae is no easy task. Equally difficult however is finding personal tutors who have the ability to teach these subjects well.

Mareels Howarth was created in 2015 in order to tackle the strong demand for friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable tutors. Our natural enthusiasm for the subjects we teach and our ability to effortlessly convert complex topics/subjects into understandable material is what makes us unique.

We are not a large agency and believe in quality over quantity. Our goal is to stay this way. We only work with tutors that are DBS verified, have an excellent academic record, are friendly, approachable, personal and are passionate about each one of their student's development.
